![]() The FTC has a standard on when you can label as product as "Made in USA" and "Assembled in USA" ( … a-standard), but it doesn't say anything about using the word "built". GT started putting "Built in USA" stickers on their bikes (e.g., Power Series frames) to basically mislead the consumer. For example, all Speed Series frames (they all have serial numbers on their left rear dropout) were welded in California while all of the Power Series frames (they all have serial numbers on their bottom bracket shell) were welded overseas. From 1998 to 2001, only a handful of GT frame models were actually made in the USA all of the others were made overseas. ![]() ![]() If a mid-school GT frame says "Built in USA", it was more than likely made overseas.
